Youth Week 2025 is officially underway with more than 70 community events to be held across the State to celebrate the positive contributions and diverse strengths of young Western Australians.

Running from 10 to 17 April, Youth Week is Western Australia's biggest annual celebration of young people, by young people.

Events will be held from the Kimberley to Great Southern offering young people aged 10 to 25 the opportunity to share their valuable perspectives, talk about the issues that matter to them and connect with their peers.

The 2025 Youth Week WA Ambassadors Daisy Pilsworth, Emily Sullivan, Lissa Lee and Om Sharma have played a crucial role in shaping this year's celebrations, providing a voice for young people throughout the planning process.

Festivities will be officially launched in the City of Karratha tomorrow, at a special kick-off concert featuring a high-energy performance from First Nations rapper ZERO Emcee, young local performers and a market showcasing young creators.

Local governments and community organisations are delivering a wide range of events across metro and regional WA throughout the week, supported by more than $90,000 in grant funding through the Cook Labor Government's Youth Week WA Grants Program.

Some of the highlights include:

  • Shark Bay Community Resource Centre's collaborative community-wide mural project with Aboriginal artist Daniel McHenry;
  • City of South Perth's Neon Festival which will offer a free, fun and inclusive night of music featuring an epic line-up of artists, food trucks, stalls and chill zones;
  • City of Kalamunda's Champions of Change events which will offer workshops centred on wellbeing, resilience and leadership;
  • Joondalup Family Centre's Youth Pop-Up Market will showcase young entrepreneurs' talents and homemade creations; and
  • Multicultural Services Centre of WA's Diversity Inclusion & Belonging event will offer a range of activities to foster community spirit, connection and cultural exchange for culturally and linguistically diverse young people.

For the first time, Youth Week WA has its own dedicated microsite to make it easier for young people to find and get involved in a range of free activities in their community.

The Youth Week WA theme for 2025 is 'Our Threads, This Place, Your Moment,' reflecting young people's connections with their community, each other and themselves.

Chosen by the Youth Week WA Planning Committee, this theme symbolises the patchwork of contributions that young people make that form the rich tapestry of Western Australia.

Comments attributed to Youth Minister Hannah Beazley:

"Youth Week is an important opportunity to amplify the voices of young people across Western Australia and recognise how they are shaping our communities as not just the leaders of tomorrow, but the leaders of today.

"With young people making up nearly 20 per cent of WA's population, the Cook Labor Government is committed to empowering them to share their unique perspectives and ideas and get involved in decision-making.

"I am thrilled to be launching Youth Week 2025 in beautiful Karratha, and I encourage everyone to make the most of the incredible line-up of inclusive events on offer across the State."

Comments attributed to Pilbara MLA Kevin Michel:

"Young people give so much to the Pilbara, whether it be through volunteering for local community and sporting clubs, sharing their talents through the arts, caring for others or advocating for causes they're passionate about.

"I am looking forward to seeing Karratha take centre stage during Youth Week 2025 and for our engaged and inspiring young people to receive the recognition they so deserve."
